WHAT IS A SALON NIGHT?

Gallery ATARAH's salon nights revive the tradition of intimate artistic gatherings that flourished in 18th and 19th century European salons—spaces where artists, writers, and thinkers came together to share work, exchange ideas, and build community outside formal institutions.

In a contemporary art world that can feel increasingly transactional, we're returning to this foundational idea: art thrives in community, and artists deserve spaces where their work can be seen, discussed, and experienced without the pressure of traditional gallery politics. Our salon nights showcase emerging and established artists in an intimate setting, blending contemporary work with carefully selected vintage and antique pieces to create dialogue across time.


HOW TO SUBMIT

SUBMISSIONS NOW OPEN

Currently accepting submissions for our first salon night opening December 13th.

This is a group exhibition featuring primarily 2D work displayed salon-style on our signature rail system.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Primarily, 2D artwork like photography, painting, drawing, prints, mixed media, but open to all works.

  • Brooklyn & NYC-based creatives

  • Work that comes from authentic self-exploration, no commercial or client based work

  • There is no predetermined theme— once submissions are closed - Atarah will curate based on whats submitted, space available and how the works interact with each other.


SUBMISSION REQUIRMENTS

Email the following to info@galleryatarah.com:

  • 2 - 10 options of available work, at least (1) photo per piece

  • Titles for each piece

  • Dimensions (H x W x D in inches)

  • Intended sale price

  • Brief artist bio

  • Short statement about your practice and the work you are submitting

  • Current framing status (framed, unframed, needs framing)

  • Instagram handle or website (if available)

FAQ

  • No. You can submit images of unframed work. If selected, you'll have until December 9th to frame it. We can provide framing recommendations.

  • We can accommodate work from small (6x6") to large (36x48").

  • For the December Salon Night, we're focusing on 2D work for the salon wall. However, we may include a few small sculptural objects on pedestals — so yes you're welcome to submit 3D work for consideration!

  • We're aiming for accessible pricing, generally $200–$2,000 per piece. You'll set your own prices for selected work, with advice available if you need!

  • December 9th is a hard deadline for installation. If you have a conflict, you'll want to make sure to drop your work off prior.

  • Artists are responsible for packaging and shipping sold work. The gallery will facilitate local pickups. Shipping costs are calculated separately by artist and paid by the buyer.

  • You'll pick up your work at the end of the exhibition (late January/early February 2026). There's no pressure for sales—this is about community, visibility, and creating a beautiful group show.

  • No. This is commission-based only (65/35 split in your favor if work sells).
