The Format:
These aren't formal exhibitions—they're open studio nights with a rotating salon wall. The atmosphere is intentionally casual and welcoming. Depending on what Atarah is working on and what artists bring to share, each month brings different energy.
What's On View:
The salon wall rotates between collected vintage works, Atarah's recent pieces, and work from visiting artists. You might see finished work, works-in-progress, or anything in between. It's a living display that changes monthly.
Bring Your Own Work:
We actively encourage you to bring your art to share—whether it's a finished piece, a sketchbook, a project you're wrestling with, or work you're proud of. This is a "show and tell" environment. Share your practice, get feedback, have conversations about what you're making. All creative disciplines welcome.
Who Comes:
Artists across all mediums, collectors, neighbors, and anyone curious about contemporary art in an intimate setting. Some come to show their work, others just to look and connect. The common thread is genuine interest in creativity and community.
WHAT IS A SALON NIGHT?
These gatherings revive the spirit of 18th and 19th century European salons—intimate spaces where artists, writers, and thinkers came together to share work, exchange ideas, and build community outside formal institutions. In those salons, creativity thrived through conversation and connection, not through gatekeeping or hierarchy.
We're bringing that energy into contemporary Brooklyn. In an art world that can feel increasingly transactional, Salon Nights offer something different: a regular gathering place for artists and art-lovers to connect without the pressure of traditional gallery politics. Work is shared, ideas are discussed, and relationships are built in an atmosphere that values genuine exchange over commercial transaction.
