WHAT IS A SALON SHOW?

Gallery ATARAH's Salon Shows revive the grand tradition of salon exhibitions—those historic gatherings where artists, writers, and thinkers displayed their work together, creating conversations that transcended individual pieces and sparked cultural movements.

Twice a year, the gallery transforms into a fully curated group exhibition featuring 10-20 Brooklyn-based and regional artists selected through open submissions. These aren't casual gatherings—they're professionally realized shows with complete installation, printed materials, opening receptions, and six-week exhibition runs.

Each show is curated through careful attention to how work exists in dialogue. Pieces are selected not for predetermined themes but for their ability to create unexpected connections and visual resonance when experienced together. Contemporary work is displayed salon-style on our custom patina steel rail system, mixed with vintage and antique pieces from the gallery's collection to create conversations across time and practice.

These exhibitions provide a professional platform for artists creating outside traditional gallery structures—work that emerges from authentic self-exploration rather than commercial trends. Artists benefit from museum-quality presentation, marketing support, and an artist-friendly 65/35 commission split (significantly better than the industry standard 50/50).

WHO IS THIS FOR?

Artists whose work emerges from genuine self-exploration—those who transform personal truth into something others can recognize and feel. If you've built your practice through dedication rather than pedigree, if your work carries the weight of authentic investigation and is willing to be vulnerable in pursuit of connection, this platform is for you.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

All mediums welcome - work primarily displayed on the gallery's custom rail system in salon-style

Brooklyn & NYC-based artists

Work from authentic self-exploration - no commercial or client-based work
